Organic or Mechanical?

Dave bishop and the Sinners...

In a world Of Mechanised clichés in popular music where trends are mass fed into an audience of billions one must ponder what is real anymore?

Let's Face it - If You know the inner workings of how pop music is constructed, with Beatles created and based on Hooks and happy go lucky looks;
Where can the individual go to feed the Spirit and the Mind-?

That is where Dave Bishops music comes in..

In current times "Soul Music" must take a broader meaning,
The mass populous has now been moving away for some time
from the "Mechanical" to the "Organic".

Dave Bishop Lives feels and writes the only way a TRUE musician can - from the heart.

Decisions Decisions.... Should I or shouldn't I put the disc on for a spin,

You make up Your own mind but remember that true nourishment in art in any form,
can only come from one place --- the aforementioned heart...

hORIZONTAL RULE

Dave Bishop has been developing his audience over the last 7 years in various projects; the most high profile being Night Train, of which he was the singer/ songwriter, and in a burgeoning solo career.

With a long history in the ACT music scene, Dave has been performing solo, in duos and bands for a number of years. A talented performer he has played 236 shows in the period November 2004 to July 2007 both as a solo artist and with his duo Detour and band Night Train.

For the past few years Dave has been writing songs in preparation for a debut solo album. His songs, with their story telling lyrics & rootsy overtones, are reminiscent of a young Eric Bogle, and the fact Dave sings in an Australian accent with local subject matter means his music evokes a fresh contemporary Australian country feel.

Dave has achieved many milestones as a musician and is no stranger to performing and recording. His former band 'Juggernaut 101' -- recorded an album (Red Headed Step Child) in 2001. One of the songs received high rotation on Canberra’s commercial radio station FM104.7.

After a name change to 'Night Train' the band started to secure support slots with Australian bands touring through the Canberra region. Night Train were invited to tour with the Screaming Jets & have done so on various occasions. They have supported & played with many Australian touring acts: Rose Tattoo, The Angels, Jimmy Barnes, Killing Heidi, Spiderbait, You am I, Magic Dirt, Something for Kate, Lee Kernigan, Alex Lloyd and Troy Casser Daly.

Night Train recorded another of Dave's songs, the single: "Black Sally Lane," which was launched to a record crowd capacity for a local band at Canberra's ANU bar. The band continued touring to Sydney, Wagga, Parkes & other various regions & pubs. They then recorded an EP called 'Puzzle.' They launched that to around 800 fans at the Hellenic Club in Canberra. Night Train recorded a film clip for the single 'Puzzle' & it was played on Rage & Channel V on numerous occasions. The next single from the EP was titled 'Be There' & was played on "A" rotation on Canberra’s FM104.7 & also played in other areas, such as Townsville, Cairns, Darwin etc.

In this time period Night Train were invited to play Canberra Day & Australia Day celebrations by the ACT Government and performed alongside acts such as Something for Kate, Alex Lloyd & Gina Jefferies. They were invited by the Department of Defence to go to the Solomon Islands over the New Year period 06-07 to play for deployed forces. While there Detour also played some shows, from that the duo was invited to do a 10 day tour to Egypt & Cyprus to entertain other deployed Australian forces in June 2007.

Night Train developed their audience from playing covers and original shows in Canberra, Queanbeyan and Goulburn pubs. They funded their recording projects from playing 4 hour gigs 2 or 3 nights per week. Some of the recordings received high rotation on various commercial radio stations including Canberra’s 104.7. This raised their profile & grew their audience to include Sydney, Wagga, Parkes, Deniliquin & other various towns & places.

Dave has recently finished recording his Debut album "Above the Roof" which will be launched in May 2008. The album features 12 of Dave's original compositions and was recorded at Cloud Studios. It also features well regarded musicians Andrew Clermont and Parris MacLeod. Dave is in the process of securing a publishing deal to make it available to all who like good Australian music.
